A ram's horn is never too heavy
For the ram to carry
You my Lord
Have fixed a heavy burden on
Your people Torn from our soil
Our towns and villages sacked
Our grand fathers and grand sons
Our grand mothers and grand daughters
Beheaded and left for the vultures
Our brave chiefs and princes pierced and broken
Our people chained and stolen across the water
To work your enemy's garden
While our own overgrew with thorns and lianas
You my Lord
Laid this burden on us
But we never cursed Your great name
Lamentations 2
Though our burdens grew heavier with the centuries
Our brothers hanged and burned
Our sisters branded and raped
Our children stripped and beaten
Our tongue stolen and buried
Our towns and villages cursed and forgotten
My Lord
We never cursed Your great name
But held forever to our strength
Which comes alone from You
Oh Bright Redeemer
Shining Avenger
God of old resurrected and made new
We never cursed Your great name
